"the delusions are really something, I don't know light in a sea of black, they never ask not once..."
My head is dizzy. I contend that I am feeling under the weather, my body is sore but that's not the reason for my dazed look. Listening to "D.O.D." by Bristol scene stalwarts, artists, diverse visionaries DAMEFRISØR and I am feeling a stirring cross generational, cross genre'd sound. That being said the biggest elements that shine in my mind like a neon sign is late 70's English proto punk, indie art punk and dance, funk punk, new wave, as well as late 90's revival post punk too (think Interpol and Bloc Party). In terms of the late 70's sounds, think Joy Division and Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music). There is a tortured drawl at the arrowed point vocal aesthetic of DAMEFRISØR. Brit post punk elegance meets the deconstructed origins of emo. An amalgam of many things, historical artful things that feels unmistakably current.
Dig this song from front to back and inside out.
