"Diabolical Bird" would be just as diabolically effective as a soundtrack element to something like "Guardians of the Galaxy" as it would be in the last iteration of "Halloween"
Of all the seemingly hundreds of musical genres there are today I love the descriptor hauntronica, not only because of how it sounds but because how it tells you precisely what to expect. It is now part of the lexicon and as an umbrella term in fits Manchester, England's Flange Circus like a worn spiked leather glove. Experience their latest offering, "Diabolical Bird" from their upcoming album "Katabasis" and you might start seeing things in the dark, or at least, in the recesses of your mind and while you might revel in the depth and sounds of the synth waves and tribal drums there is a lot of complex emotional cues going on here.
The song starts all sparkly and throughout these glimpses of fantasy, space rock shine through giving the darkness rays of light. It is as fun as it is encompassing in it's sort of kitsch horror pop tones. That is to say, "Diabolical Bird" would be just as diabolically effective as a soundtrack element to something like "Guardians of the Galaxy" as it would be in the last iteration of "Halloween" or something sideways as the latest iteration of "Suspiria".
Flange Circus infuses their sounds with the aforementioned space or fantasy rock as well as post rock, psychedelia, krautrock, gothic folk / rock atmospheres and more but I suppose there is no need to slice and dice their sound, so to speak. I like what they are doing, it has a flair for classic horror noir and recognizes the fear and fun hiding in the dark as something worth rolling around in. There is something about horror in literature / media that maybe thickens our ancient hides so that we can take on the real horrors of that life inevitably offers us.

Fusing retro-synths with a taste for the absurd, Flange Circus channels its influences into something very distinctive, and honours its ancestors with a wry smile. Through the veil, listeners will catch glimpses of Goblin, John Carpenter, GNOD, Loop, Teeth of the Sea, Tresor, Fuck Buttons, The Advisory Circle and Ghost Box Records.
