"falling on deaf ears, will he make it right - I think he can..."
It is not often that you hear an alt rock banger, that gets all dreamy with prog rock undertones and, then, at will, feels grandly art rock-esque but then falls into doo wop punk glitter ball atmospheres. This is the amazing case of "Shoegaze Man" by Toronto's Ghostbear. All these genres, tones, shape shift effortlessly and it doesn't sound or feel wrong at all. OH, and I haven't even, purposely mentioned the sort of kraut psych rockian (sort of mind you) musical break (another breathtaking head turner, eyebrow raiser. The vocal aesthetics is beautiful here as well with phrasings that might have you thinking of a mini rock opera.
Ghostbear is so original here that I am hard pressed to offer up descriptors based on other artists but if I had to try, maybe an amalgam of Yawn, Grizzly Bear, Muse, Chicano Batman and Moebius & Plank. Maybe? (I am snickering as I write this).
Dip in, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Ghostly as a Ghost, Beary as a ....Bear.
Perfectly out of place.
They love music, They write songs.
Some are angry and some are sad.
Some start as jokes and sound real rad.
As long as the Bear is fed the magic happens.
Hailing from Toronto, Ghostbear serves up a frothy fanfare fracas, a moistened musical melee...
a real bruhaha of creation.
