"looking at the stars / they're looking at me / I wonder if I ever get free..."
Sure, maybe it is the exquisite trip hop-esque beat that drives the dreamy "Was There An Episode I Missed?" by Canberra, Australia's Artist Running Club but it is the beautiful and trancelike keyboard runs (love the keys) that cajoles. It is the fluttering jazz dipped bass moves, drones of sound, spinning plucked rhythm guitar that feels so chill and it the the thoroughly moving vocal performance, floating in melancholy falsettos and adorned with embracing harmonies that elevates, uplifts, touches.
The bands says:
""Was There An Episode I Missed?" is our most honest and vulnerable track yet. It's about feeling like a misfit, like an alien, like not knowing who or what you are."
""Was There An Episode I Missed?" is our most honest and vulnerable track yet. It's about feeling like a misfit, like an alien, like not knowing who or what you are."
This lyrical passage says it all:
"I know I'm a little bit strange / I feel like an alien everyday / I wanna give love but I'm afraid / I'll lose safety along the way / I don't know who to be / am I you or are you me / looking at the stars / they're looking at me / I wonder if I ever get free..."
During the outro, the musical catharsis, musical butterflies and blossoming flowers might feel like real life becoming a beautiful animation. I am digging the tenderness.

Based in Canberra Australia, life-long mates and multi-instrumentalists Sam & Stevie met in kindergarten where they bonded over a shared love of music. Later they met Tom and have been inseparable ever since. They occasionally go jogging together, but are more often found making tunes.
The boys have launched numerous projects over the years, most notably the psychedelic indie group Young Monks. This saw them sign with major record label Unified Music Group, and tour their debut record nationally.
Now, after a long hiatus the boys return with their latest project. An entirely DIY indie project.
