"suddenly was black and broken / two of the things I know / due to various circumstances / I'm not supposed to talk..."
The trippy comfort and calming subversion of "Memories of Another Life: by Bee Bee Sea (originally from Castel Goffedo in Lombardy, Italy) runs on urgent circular guitar shapes and blissful vocals. The song starts off running and ebbs and flows, swells with beautiful explosions of sounds. It is the kind of song, steeped in a blend of late 70's proto indie rock and 90's jangle pop, that ends way to fast, a vibe you could float in for 10 minutes easy and still want more.
Bee Bee Sea is comprised of Wilson Wilson on guitar and vocals, Giacomo Parisio on bass, and Andrea Onofrio on drums. There are different emotional shades on "Memories of Another Life". You can feel tension in the guitars and loss in the vocal melodies. It rolls in a timeless way, dips into nostalgic places and imagines things not done but sort of remembered.
From press notes:
[In stark contrast with the tone of the song, the video is a montage by Ludovica De Santis featuring funny teenage scenes interspersed with clips from cartoons and TV series from the early 00s, a period in which the band members were teenagers themselves.
'Memories of Another Life' is the b-side to the band's recently released latest single 'Time and Time', an introspective, yet powerful, song about the inexorable passing of time. Watch the video here.]
