"You turn all my worries into ways to get by / just fine / You still are the only one I need to stay high / for life..."
Imagine a massive war in the not too distant future. The divisive fascist fulcrums have torn the world apart, artificial intelligence has metastasized into half robotic creatures as home grown armed resistors are keeping the faith and waging counter attacks. As all hope seems lost, then "Still Rolling" by Auckland’s soul-electronic collective LEISURE is blaring from half broken down ECN speakers on the tops of buildings and slowly, all people, all half robotic creature, every sentient being... starts dancing.
HEY, it could happen. The chill, embracing "Still Rolling" or other tracks like the boogie blessed vibe of "Flame" also from the band's new (4th) album "Leisurevision" is neo-soul sublime and roller dance exquisite. Put you skates on or thrown down on your skateboard, or dance, move, freak out, whatever, just chill the fuck out! This means you Karen! (male or female)
LEISURE NOTES:
A new season is ushered in with Leisurevision, encapsulated by the color green - symbolic of growth, renewal, and rebirth - a calming and harmonious color, representing balance, peace, and tranquility. Musically, the album takes inspiration from various eras — seventies soul, early eighties post-disco, mid-nineties hip-hop drum programming and blends it together with the signature lush guitar sound heard across their discography.
