The grungy, alt rock sludge poppy revelry of "Boy Disco", by Boston, Massachusetts bred / Pittsburgh, PA based queer songwriter and indie-rock musician Tory Silver and band, feels so gloriously fuzzy and addictive that just listening to it makes one somehow feel cool and kind of bad ass. The tactile grunge laced guitar riff, the screaming feedback as orchestrations of sound, the sludgy / heavily stoic drumming, the quiet / loud sensibility and the counter-positioning of heavy blues alt rock against Tory's vocal countenance that feels a bit aloof, comfortable, sardonic and downright friendly makes for a brilliant (once again) addiction. The sound, described by some as dream grunge, feels (to me) like a kind of spicy amalgam of Meat Puppets (circa "Meat Puppets II") with some Ty Segall (circa 2008) laced with Thee Oh Sees (circa 2011) and Courtney Barnett (or thereabouts). Cool.

Silver shares: "This song is a stream of consciousness at heart. The album is about moving forward in life despite the obstacles thrown our way, and this song is where I just wrote down what I was feeling. By the end, it shifts into something more tender - a reminder of how important it is to have the right people in your life, and a hope that everyone has that. That, and it's a freaking rock song."
