Patofthepeople and the exuberant sonic blender of "Flowers Turn Red"

The exuberant sonic blender of "Flowers Turn Red" by the enigmatic jammy indie outfit Patofthepeople (who I believe are based out of Los Angeles), draws you in with a youthful power punching sound. Sonically rich, sort of beautifully frantic and multi-tiered, the artistic wash pulls from different generations and genres (at least to me). This bag of sounds would include indie rock, twee, jangle pop, "indie twee-punk", alt rock with dashes of jazz, proggy but not mathy (if that makes any sense). At this time, based on this track, I am thinking of such a diverse range of artists from Squeeze to Guided by Voices to Twin Peaks to 4x4 Animal Style to Cigarettes After Sex and even to Black Country, New Road which might seem weird to think. I mean this is a diverse group of adjacent artists but to me there is some through line in terms of artistic freewheeling escapism, of throwing things against the proverbial wall and seeing what sticks.

I wonder what you think. I think this sound is so freaking organic that in these strange time when music is often times fabricated instead of crafted from the ground up, I think bands like this feel kind of rare to me. AND I am thrilled to read this from the band's "notes": "Everything in the song was recorded DIY and tracked Live through amps."
