Speed Of Wine by Portland / Nashville garage super group Paper Cameras feels like running as fast as you can to a destination full of sheer happiness and relief from all that ails you, running to the arms of those who get you, love you, accept you with all your hapless scars. At least that is what if feels like to me. There is a decidedly post punk kind of 90's tone and Dinosaur Jr comes to mind as does Japandroids and Sonic Youth. I love this track and it will be embedded on many of my play lists and it will cheer me up when I am sad and pump me up even more when I am happy. Speed Of Wine is the first single off the bands debut album, "Painted Light".
Paper Cameras' garage / post punk power pop sound comes courtesy of ex members of The Dandy Warhols and Seawolfe, The Grifters and Spectator Pump. "Painted Light" was recorded at the iconic Portland Type Foundry Studios with producer Adam Selzer (Decemberists / Peter Buck / M.Ward / Fleet Foxes).
