ASHRR - Delicious Abstract Art Pop of "Sometimes" and OFFICIAL VIDEO

Push play on Sometimes by ASHRR and you can't help but feel David Bowie and Brian Eno in the mix, you might even feel Bryan Ferry or Martin Fry. What all these artist have in common is their ability to inject abstract lines into their art with all manner of musical cues thrown in whether it be proto punk, glam or funk or romantic wave. It is crafted / blended into something that populists call art pop but it is much more. It is drenched in cool and painted with an elegant overcoat. Key in this type of  art rock milieu are vocal performances that are poised, sultry, self aware and a bit aloof in the most theatrical way. This all applies to ASHRR, the L.A. self described musical collective made up of singer songwriter Steven Davis and artist / producer Ethan Allen and Josh Charles. On Sometimes, ASHRR cuts a deep bass heavy groove with sexy synths, proto punk guitar lines and Davis' comely vocals that veer unworldly all framed in an aesthetic that screams, "Mommy... we're not in Kansas anymore." I love it.

Check it out and the accompanying Official Video featuring a slightly creepy doll and be transported.
