AP Track Review
Good Old Neon by Okay Embrace, the musical moniker for singer-songwriter, guitarist David Schaefer is a cagey, angsty post punk indie rocker with jangly guitars and powerful crescendos. There are proggy leanings too and for some reason it reminds me a bit of 90's Southern Cali college radio. It might remind you of other time frames that are pleasing to you. Schaefer's vox feels comfortably cynical and a little bit pissed off and I like that. I also love the dynamic range in this track. A fixture in Los Angeles for those who know the real deals around town. Look for the album, "Moving / Improving" set to drop before years end.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Okay Embrace is the new project of Los Angeles based songwriter and guitarist David Schaefer. Schaefer, now 20, has been a part of the DIY music scene in Los Angeles since his early teens, collaborating with other artists such as Phoebe Bridgers and Girlpool and previously releasing music under the name French Negative. Since forming, Okay Embrace has garnered considerable praise, with Tiny Mix Tapes' Sean Hannah calling Schaefer a "wunderkind" with a "singular voice" and Earmilk's Rachel Hammermueller praising their "wild, untamed guitar playing." Schaefer recorded the first Okay Embrace album during his two years at Hampshire college, working with Dinosaur Jr./ Pixies engineer Justin Pizzoferrato at Sonelab Studios. The album, Moving/Improving, is due out in Winter 2019.
