For Entertainment Purposes Only-Lulu Lewis in Dub
Like a big pile of Halloween candy spilled out on the carpet, Lulu Lewis, the post punk art rocker outfit comprised of actress, producer, visual artist and songwriter Dylan Hundley (she rules) and Pablo Martin , producer, bassist and guitarist and former member of the iconic Tom Tom Club (he rules) have created Dub versions of past works and the cagey, sultry, spacey result only enhances the proto punk quality of the originals. Smartly they have renamed them. They have transformed the midnight movie aesthetic of Gone To LA (from the Genuine Psychic) to something even more vast and beat driven eerie and gothic on West Side Dub. Twisted the sideways funk punk of Sidewalks (Genuine Psychic) into a bigger club sound with a snare snap and Hundley's coo radio like transmissions and as East Side Dub it feels like electronic syrup dripping onto late night pancakes. The whole EP is dynamically rich and a complete metamorphosis of these songs into, well, other songs almost entirely. Play this EP when doing absolutely anything, late night driving or creating a painting or working on spreadsheets and you will feel cool and maybe even slightly intoxicated.
Below is the corresponding song titles to those amazing previous works- (our secret) plus a bonus 6th track that you will have to decipher yourself. Smiling.
Spacing Out = City Below the Hunter
East Side Dub = Sidewalks
West Side Dub = Gone to LA
Tacatac = Eternal Youth
Learning Slow = Moving Fast
