AP Track Review
As Frances Luke Accord, Nicholas Gunty and Brian Powers craft beautiful indie folk songs that feel like sonic literary works. I don't know how to explain it but there is an elegance in the prose born out of the sort of stoic classicalism that doesn't seem to cater to musical trends or tropes of the day. On their song, Thank You, Derrick Watson, I would be lying if I said, they did not remind me of early Simon & Garfunkel, not really in sound but the sort of way their folk waltz sets a sophisticated tone. This is not to say that their sound does not let emotions flourish but that they let the story evoke the emotion rather than over reaching vocally in an indie folk / emo folk sort of way. The guitar play is pretty, yet complex and the intimate harmonies soar. Beautiful stuff that seems destined to grace the soundtrack of some film yet to be made.
