AP Track Review
Heaven's Daughter from Limerick, Ireland's Slow Riot's debut full length album G.A.D has big waves of post rock with some late 80's new wave tones and a current indie rock swing. I thought of iconic post rock / new wave acts like The Chameleons, Echo and the Bunnymen and post punk / indie rock artists like the Drums and the Horrors all at the same time while listening to the band's cool aesthetic. Other songs on G.A.D like Trophy Wife and Betrayed push more strident post punk sounds and Pink December and Search The Streets push shoe gazey and dark wave romance buttons. Unkind with it's slow downward spiral is drenched in a cool darkness. So many journeys to take on G.A.D.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Pre-dating the current wave of post-punk, Limerick’s brooding quartet SLOW RIOT’s early recordings immediately caught the ear of tastemakers both in Ireland and the UK. Drowned In Sound, The Line Of Best Fit, Q Magazine, Hot Press and The Irish Times citing them for big things, whilst single ‘Trophy Wife’ earned the band plaudits from Shaun Keaveny on the then 6Music Breakfast Show, Paul McLoone at Today FM (“my new favourite Irish band”), John Richards’ ‘Song Of The Day’ at KEXP and playlisted at RadioX. Having played shows with Mission Of Burma, Preoccupations, The Twilight Sad, whenyoung, and festivals such as Electric Picnic & Other Voices, the band disbanded despite having finished recording on their debut full length album - G.A.D. The album will now, finally, receive a posthumous release in November 2019.
