Sometimes you find an old shirt way back in the hidden recesses of your closet and while you weren't fond of this dress shirt with camel drawings on it in the past, you find it now and it has a new luster, it looks amazing in fact. Sometimes that same thing happens with art, with songs recorded and tucked away in the vault (so to speak). This is the case with the song Blood Moon Honeymoon by Sam Miller with support by Lizzy Rose and Chris Cunningham. It is a "tragic self love story" that feels dreamy and sort of caustic at the same time, it is cut out of torn cloth, it feels like folk punk existing in a midnight movie. I really dig it and asked Sam about it's story:
"It was written and recorded in one night while on tour in 2014. Lizzy Rose and I had played in Seattle the night before and we were staying with Chris Cunningham, lead singer/songwriter of the Seattle band Ravenna Woods, who had an awesome studio in his basement. We were relating pessimistic stories of past romances which organically led to this collaboration.
Yes, Sam and Lizzy and Chris, don't change a thing. It is perfect, lightning in a bottle created at one moment in time because it was meant to be.
