"disguised as an indie new wave band"
Hailing from Amsterdam and disguised as an indie, new-wave band - ‘Sad Songs for Happy People’ is the convergence of a songwriter, dancers, a fine artist, filmmakers and session musicians spread throughout the web.
The new video for the gender-agnostic track - ‘GIRL’ , features lip-syncing by a boy, swaying men in skirts, hazy 80’s synths and grieving lyrics about acceptance, placed in a eerie setting that steals unapologetically, from Lynch or Kubrick’s best cinema. - (Press notes)
I wanted to get those Press notes out of the way because I like the direct candor about this creative project and while I would say the the video feels more like it was designed and or directed by Christopher Nolan, whomever it pays homage to or is by inspired by, it is quite captivating and artfully done. I don't know why the creatives behind this only uploaded a teaser video. I would of liked to see the entire song represented but, no worries, the Spotify link is below as well.
