"beautifully beautiful"
On the official video for Gregory Pepper's beautifully beautiful Maybe I'll See You (as illustrated by David Partridge & animated by Pepper) you will see a bevy of well known and lesser known, ummm, pop icons doing everyday things like for example, Regan MacNeil (you know the vomit spewing character from the Exorcist), moving up one of those stair chair lifts. She is well dressed and I suppose older. You will also see Leather Face from the Texas Chain Saw Massacre grilling something on a Weber grill and Pennywise sunbathing on the beach. I like seeing Cujo as an actual Swiss rescue dog or the shark from Jaws playing with a beach ball. There are homages to older monsters like Frankenstein and the Creature from the Black Lagoon (that fish guy) and the whole lot of them are doing unexpected "normal" things, mundane things, which is kind of sad, kind of boring I guess compared to chopping someone's head off. What am I saying? You know what I mean.
The point is, that this clever funny sardonic animated thingy for a song that is beautifully beautiful might be saying something deep (or not). The thing I enjoy about Gregory Pepper's music is that you feel like there is a wink and a grin or maybe even a clear disdain for whatever he is singing and or commenting about or maybe not. Maybe things are just as they seem or sound like.
Great song though and fun to sort of guess or recognize all the horrible characters on this music video. Maybe I'll See You is from GP's aka Gregory Peppers & His Problems full length "I Know Now Why You Cry" released on Fake Four Inc.
