"garage studio in Swansea"
South Wales indie rock band French Alps Tiger just released their first track of 2020. Floor Is Lava feels like a fervent punk rocker (I flashed on a more youthful Thee Oh Sees) with a raw warehouse sound, stomping drums, big bass pound and lush, yet dirty lead lines that veer from double to individual counterpoised goodness. Love this track so much. The vox are shouty and as the band notes, Floor Is Lava is a tune “for the kids whose parents didn’t give a fuck and let them smack up on candy and fizz and walk the streets being c*nts.”
Let's keep in mind that a lot of those kids just might grow up and form punk bands... yep!

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
French Alps Tiger are Russ, Duffy, Jess and Durke. Named after the elusive tiger found only in the French Alps of South Wales, they like writing music that reminds them of being kids and playing shows that remind you too. Mixing fun energetic rhythms with raw melodies, wavey guitars and lyrics about your mum.
Debut single ‘Tell A Lie’ was released last summer and received multiple plays across BBC Radio Wales and praise from the likes of Indie Shuffle, When The Horn Blows and Scientists of Sound.
“A fusion of punk, indie, and surf rock that I didn't know I needed in my life until now.” – Indie Shuffle
French Alps Tiger kick off 2020 with their follow up 2nd single ‘Floor Is Lava’, a tune “for the kids whose parents didn’t give a fuck and let them smack up on candy and fizz and walk the streets being c*nts.”
Once again recorded in a friend’s garage studio in Swansea and this time mixed and mastered by Canadian wonderkid Chris Dimas of Surf Dads fame out in Regina, Saskatchewan. ‘Floor Is Lava’ will be released digitally on Feb 29th, “because it ain’t that often you get to put something out on that date” and physically on a super limited tongue-in-cheek floppy disk release in March. (Date TBC)
There will be an accompanying mockumentary video on the floppy disk release, talking about "the vibe".
Just announced: French Alps Tiger will be supporting Kaiser Chiefs at a one off show at Dingwalls, Camden on April 18th.
