"wish I could go back"
Eric Cannata's dreamy indie folk escape, Another Song, has a vast sound. Amid the sort of acoustic bedroom pop feel lies an almost late 70's classic vox populi pop sound. There are traces of that time somehow that give it a lovely nostalgic sweep like scratches on film, like flickers of light through trees. The backing vox pushed through telephone filters, the pushed bass line and beat and wistful garden rock piano and country pedal steel guitars all work together, dance together. In the end Another Song while steeped in a patina of nostalgia and memories of other times doesn't sound like any other song at all.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Eric Cannata blends folk with a tinge of psychedlia. His debut EP, 'Lonely Beast' feels a like a foggy grey morning, or the afterglow of an ended relationship. There is a nostalgic, simplistic, and raw quality to the recordings, with the core elements of the stew being acoustic guitars, bass, piano, and drums. On top of the meat and potatoes is a layer of effected pedal steel, mellotron, and percussion. The EP was recorded at Music Box Studios in Fullerton, CA with Cannata's longs time friend Jon O Brien over 2 days. "Jon put together a band of three awesome musicians, all of whom I had never met before the day we recorded the songs. It was Levi Matulis on drums, Jeremy Long on piano and pedal steel and Dave Pelusi on bass. I didn't want to give myself time to overthink, or over-bake these recordings." Eric's style draws inspiration from Wilco, George Harrison, and Sparklehorse. His EP Lonely Beast will be out April 20, 2020.
