"things just seem a little bit brighter"
This is a true story. This morning I went for an early morning walk (6:48AM) while listening to Chayse Porter's instrumental Carol’s Boutique (Sounds Inspired by Jasper Mall) and a funny thing happened. The whirligigs that adorn the lawn four housed down seemed to be turning in slow motion. The flicker of sunlight that showered down on a bed of azaleas felt more animated. I could swear that I heard a splash in the (sort of) community pool at the end of the block but it has been closed since I got to this neighborhood. The old women at the house with the Japanese inspired roof line seemed to do a little dance as she swept her porch. The blonde woman who almost angrily walks her two large dogs every morning actually smiled at me from across the street. My back straightened and the gate of my walk changed. When I nearly reached my temporary front yard and as I looked at the plaque on our neighbor's white brick wall where a painting of their Yorkie stares at me every day, I imagined it winking at me. Listening to Porter's askew vision with it's pristine smile and wink, well, things just seem a little bit brighter.
You might not understand why my experience is interesting until you listen to Carol’s Boutique. Of the track Chayse Porter (Human Beat, Seriously) offers:
"I have always had a “thing” for kitschy easy-listening music. I love that it’s both instantly pleasant and instantly forgettable. I hope that you enjoy the Sounds Inspired by Jasper Mall, then forget about it immediately thereafter."
By the way, I will not forget Porter's work right away and even if I did I would just play it again, maybe this time while driving to the beach or hiking just so I could gaze at the world in a different way.

Bio:
Chayse Porter (Human Beat, Seriously) takes you on a journey of lost and long-forgotten splendor, where the sound of soft keyboard flute rings out from an overhead speaker, ricochets off the nearby Contempo Casuals, and lands gently on your ear. As the teenagers shuffle to the exit and the lights go out, listen closer and you’ll also hear the death rattle of cavernous consumerism.
