"There’s nowhere left to wander"
Rager from New York dream pop / rock outfit Laveda and from their upcoming debut album, "What Happens After" is stunning in it's display of delicate nuances and raw power. The array of sounds feel like they are battling for center stage and sometimes they encircle Ali's vox, ghosted by Jake's (guitar, vocals, synths). Ali (vocals and guitar) has a self aware steely vocal aesthetic, a bit hushed but sultry and strong. The electronic eruptions are many but the song is built on distorted guitar power, with bending chords and incredibly heavy drums. As Ali sings all thing apocalyptic, she might of been thinking about what the "end" would look like and may of been inspired by Cormac McCarthy's "The Road." The song with all it's abject power is a juggernaut of a song coalescing post punk, art rock and heavy metal.
"Maybe it’ll happen a billion years from now
When the sun finally burns all it’s hydrogen
Or maybe it’s only a matter of months until we kill ourselves with nuclear war
Years ago when I was younger
I didn’t think about how the end would look or sound or feel
but the way our world and it’s people have seemed to move backwards in thought
has pressed this idea up to the front of my skull
And I’m looking out my window
A hundred years from now as a member of a future generation
And what I’m seeing is terrifying"

Hailing from NY, dream pop/rock outfit Laveda set nostalgic and cinematic moods with a guitar driven sound reminiscent of The Sundays, Ringo Deathstarr, or Hatchie. Founding members Ali (vocals, guitar) and Jake (vocals, guitar, synths) voice the concerns of today’s younger generation in an early single Better Now and say that this will be a main theme throughout their debut record “What Happens After” releasing Summer, 2020.
The band has been playing extensively in and around the New England/NYC area and completed a full 2 week Northeastern US/Canada tour in summer 2019. Just recently they embarked on a second tour down the East Coast (US) with bassist Dan Carr and drummer Joe Taurone that was due to culminate in Austin at SXSW (canceled due to COVID-19).
The band's full length LP is scheduled for release in Spring 2020 and will be pressed onto 12" vinyl.
