"rushing to put my make up on"
On the dark swoon of TV, Toronto singer/songwriter lemin.'s evocative vox flow in and around the black and white static shuttered sounds of jazz flavored R & B pushed by cinematic bass and drums. The atmosphere feels like a surreal lounge with a tight rope wire suspended above and lemin. deftly navigating across with beautiful vocal reflections and occasion gymnastics too. Her voice is not only beautiful but possesses it's own unique porcelain quality, vulnerable but artfully precious.

Toronto singer/songwriter lemin. merges soulful ballads with her own experimentation with production, resulting in a truly unique sound. Dubbed by BlogTo as “Toronto’s next R&B star,” lemin. first garnered attention releasing singles she produced with Tay Lewis and Giangelo Power, Better For You and Your Friends (Interlude) to SoundCloud. Her debut EP hold A: act 1 was released independently in November of 2017 and is to be followed by hold A: act 2 on September 21, 2018. Both EPs focus on themes of love and heartbreak, but more importantly for lemin., they represent self acceptance and personal growth. The EP title is taken from Mario Kart: "hold A to accelerate.”
This project is really my first baby - all of the songs I wrote and/or produced in my studio apartment in Toronto. Some of the vocals (like the chorus on View of it All and harmonies on Pink Champagne) are the originals from the nights I wrote the tracks. Mario Kart and Pink Champagne are two of my favourite songs because they really epitomize what I want people to take away from the project: love yourself, trust yourself, and you’ll always pull through. I called the project hold A because in Mario Kart you “hold A to accelerate”, and thats what making this project felt like for me: accelerating into who I am, into loving myself, and into all that I am capable of.
