"I stopped searching for sound textures and started to reflect more on the melodies and harmonies"
Moon Pics is the bedroom-pop project of 24 year old Adriano Caiado from Brasília, federal capital of Brazil, and when I say "bedroom pop", it is not merely a descriptor, the singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, does records all instruments in his bedroom.
The fluid fwr besides sonically shimmering like moonlight on the surface of a lake feels like distant lingering memories. Caiado keeps his vocal mix tucked in the fog in such a way that you don't even lean in to try to decipher the code. The tentacles of sound are mean to suggest and deepen your own dialog not his. Dreamy and scattered for the most part, sounds do erupt creating more tension, more drama within the dreamscape.
Of the track he offers:
"'flwr' came out when I stopped searching for sound textures and started to reflect more on the melodies and harmonies. I don't remember having recorded 'flwr' - I do that a lot now, picking up my phone and recording when I feel inspired and then go to sleep. When I came back in the archives, I liked this one, it was just vocals and guitar. I sliced it all up, made a sample of this recording and superimposed all other instruments.

Moon Pics is the bedroom-pop project by Adriano Caiado, 24. Living in Brasília, federal capital of Brazil, he records all instruments in his bedroom.
First release, “Motion (EP)”, came out in August 2018 while the second, “Number One / What if” in October 2018. In April 2019, Adriano recorded his first EP with the help of Luiz Spíndola (from aliendawg.) titled "Give in / Paper Heart". This single had some really nice reviews in specialized blogs, like Destroy/Exist:
“a genuine bedroom pop release, introducing two auspicious, bright new minds which show that they have a lot to offer to the world of shoegaze”.
Fueled by its good reception, Adriano got together with skatepark friends and assembled a band to play some shows in Brasília, including the prestigious 2019 edition of local Picnik Festival.
Playing live spawned new songs and in November 2019, Adriano released "Fall / Like Rain", again recorded in his room. For all releases, Adriano prepares videos using old images of worn films, made in celluloid. “They remind me of the harshness of lo-fi production in Moon Pics songs. I also look for films where the author tries to make the viewer lose himself, just as I try to do with my music ”.

Now Adriano is putting out two more songs. "suni / flwr" (all lowercase) are the result of his frustration with the limitations of his bedroom. Not only technical but existencial, amid the serious pandemic. Those two new tracks represents not only him trying to find new sounds in his usual set-up but also, once more, trying to escape to new spaces.

It is the opposite of 'suni'; 'flwr' is slow with a lot of tape saturation and a lyric reflecting a pleasant feeling. It reminds me of 'Pygmalion' from Slowdive and 'Disintegration Loops' from Basinski, along with Grouper."
The single will be released on the 31st of July via Brazilian label midsummer madness.
It's a digital release and comes with a music video as well: https://youtu.be/3eki9Z1Cq6Y
