"Holy shit", I muttered to myself as a heavy shite storm of psychedelia blew over me as I listened to "Creeper" from Leeds (UK) based Magick Mountain and from their debut album "Wierd Feelings" which recently released. I have been drowning in heavy seas of life, trying to purchase a wee tiny home in Cali, and seemingly escorting my lovely wife to way too many doctor's appointments in order to give her some much needed relief. Oh, and 84 women should not be driving and careening their cars into people. And, god bless science and surgeons but I digress (sorry).
I only meant to say that some of these great album releases have seemed to pass me by just like this twitter post:
Holy shit balls! We’re so excited to tell you that we’re self-releasing our debut album, Weird Feelings, on 23/10/20 ✨available to pre-order as ltd edition splatter vinyl (via Indie shops) + transparent magenta vinyl (via our site) CDs + T-shirt too! https://t.co/gWUH2qWoqp pic.twitter.com/NH6AJ0cYA7

POINT BEING: Magick Mountain kills it. Listening to "Creeper" I got heavy goose bump chills that I haven't felt since seeing Ty Segall churning out similar sounds and I do feel a sort of Ty thing, a sort of FUZZ thing here on this song. It is par for the course as they say. From front to back, from top to bottom MM fucking rocks on this track and maybe my favorite singular aspect here is the snaking bass line that achors this track in concrete. That bass would not exist without all of it- and all of it is amazing. I am lost in the breakdown.

Magick Mountain is what happens when the planets align and sees seasoned session musician Lins Wilson assume her rightful place; leading this fuzzed out, psychedelic, proto-punk power trio, flame red hair flowing and guitar wailing. Having written and performed with many legendary Leeds bands (including Grammatics & Mother Vulpine), Lins is now flanked by like-minded northern noiseniks Tom Hudson (Pulled Apart By Horses) and Nestor Matthews (Sky Larkin, Menace Beach). They have all toured globally under their various guises, so although Magick Mountain is a new beast, it has expert players at the helm.
