Summer and the Bedheads recently released their debut single “Ghost,” a smooth and infectious track that is seasonally timely. Hailing from northern Michigan, Summer Green uses her intricate interest and studies of music wisely in cultivating her own sound and compositions. Summer’s beautiful voice carries through “Ghost” with ease over lush and soothing instrumentation. Being from the east coast, it’s clear that Green draws influence from the naturesque atmosphere of her surroundings when writing music that probably helps plants grow. The imagery and mood created by the song is well worth listening for. Please check out “Ghost,” and we’ll be keeping up on Summer and the Bedheads as you should too.
Summer offers:
This song was entirely recorded in quarantine in three different states! Bass by Quinn in Colorado, drums by Riku in California, and vocals and guitar by Summer (me) in Michigan. We were all going to college in LA when covid hit and we all went back to our respective homes, but that didn't stop the recording! I wrote this song in high school a couple years ago and by bassist Quinn performed it with me for the first time back then. Really happy to finally put it out just in time for halloween :D

The band’s sound combines indie rock and dream pop vibes with quirky lyrics wrapped in a blanket of melodic vocals, guitar riffs, synth, bass, and drums. The band is composed of singer-songwriter and lead guitarist Summer Bedhead, Bassist Quinn Randal, and Drummer Riku Myllykoski. The band’s atmospheric grooves and gritty punk-inspired rock draws inspiration from bands like Peach Pit, Crumb, Cherry Glazerr, The Pixies and the Strokes.
Their debut single "Ghost" was recorded in the midst of quarantine. With each band member residing in different states due to Covid19, recording and releasing music didn't seem like an option however, many glitches and project files later, they managed to do it. The band continues to write, record, and release their songs entirely online for the time being, aiming to be the next quarantine superstars.
Some background:
When I was about 13, I couldn't afford a guitar and I stopped by a local music shop every day on my walk home from school to practice on their guitars. The lady working there saw me improving and started telling people about me when her father decided to just go ahead and buy me an acoustic, which is the guitar I still use today and greatly treasure. He has since passed away and I actually never got to meet him in person, just in a small phone call where I got to thank him. I think of him often and hope for his kindness to live on in my music. - Summer
