"come inside... speak your mind"
Pilots of Dune recently released their LP “Until the End of the World” with its apocalyptic hazed single “I Saw Your Eyes.” The track paints a dystopian picture as the melting instrumentation takes you on a journey through a desolate wasteland. The entire album is essentially a score to your own imagined dystopian film, à la Richard Fleischer’s Soylent Green, or John Carpenter’s They Live.
Pilots of Dune is the project of Cornelius L. Koundouris, and this track features amazing droning vocals from his partner Celyn Cooke. The single artwork was made during the recording sessions by Bettina Fung with mic’d sound to create the textures of the piece. The album was released along with the single on November 27th, so give it a listen and create your own apocalyptic landscape in your mind. Or just let it play while you gaze out at the current landscapes and (hopefully) masked people.

The one-man-band project of London based Artist Cornelius L. Koundouris (British/Greek nationality), Pilots of Dune extends across Alternative/Experimental/Mantra Rock, Post Rockabilly, to Jazz Fusion. Mostly Inspired by making music from his dreams and imagined film scenes.
In 2005 Koundouris formed the noise art-rock band "Attack of the Fits" with Angel Ito on vocals. From this project, they founded their own label RawKiss Records which was an umbrella label for their other projects which included Pilots of Dune.
Between 2005-2012 Pilots of Dune released various sketches/demos which including several Ep's and singles.
From 2012 Pilots of Dune took a hiatus from releasing new music (due to a serious health condition) but continued to write and lay demos down.
In 2018 Pilots of Dune re-emerged releasing "Minotaur" an instrumental album inspired by a dream of the Minotaur (from greek mythology) escaping Tartarus and David Lynch-Esq soundscapes. Enlisting Mike Kann on Saxophone this was the first time the project featured another musician.
The single from this album was "Yellow Eyes".
Shortly after Minotaur, Pilots Of Dune Released "Minotaur's Big Dream". This was a 4-track Surf Rock Inspired Instrumental EP. The track "Mr. M's Sweet Revenge" was featured on various Surf Rock Radio playlists including Surf Rock Radio & The Surfony of Destruction.
After 2 years of various recordings Pilots of Dune released "Hypnos & Somnus" in 2020, a 5-track synth & sax Instrumental EP. Again featuring Saxophone from Mike Kann.
Wanting to return to a more vocal driven sound such as earlier POD releases like "The Drive Song", Koundouris started sketching "Until the End of the World". The primary sound ideas where mantra, textures, reverb and delay. Bettina Fung created the art work during the recording sessions, her paper was mic'd up and used as textures in the recording. The Lyrical journey was penned by Koundouris:
"In a utopian future where humans upgrade their body's with bionics and augmentations, humanity is striving towards becoming transhuman. "Echo" a wandering preacher in search of a new God comes across "Dea" a wasteland deity and her chrome car in the barren wasteland. Together they question their decisions of changing towards transhumanism and set out to find the mechanical god."
excerpt from a journal from the first sessions of recording.
Along with his own vocals, the album heavily features vocals by his partner Celyn Cooke. He wanted to explore the contrasts offered by a female vocalist. Many of the tracks were, written with Celyn's vocals in mind.
Until the End of the World released on 27th of November.
