"Struck dumb as we see Egalitarianism decay"
"By The Power Of Barnard Castle" by Blackpool based noise rock punk trio Those Fucking Snowflakes from the upcoming EP ‘Everything Is Absolutely Fkkkkkkd’ (available on yellow 10” vinyl from 22nd January on punk legend John Robb’s ‘Louder Than War Records’) is a juggernaut of razzed up punk sounds but not just punk tones are brewing here. The pre- chorus "were disposable" feels very grunge to me and some of the rabid fire pumping musical breaks have pieces of blues rock muscle with proggy bits and funk tendons that made me think of (don't laugh) Living Color in temperament. The genre blend here is potent as is the politico punk lyrics and super tight musicality.
Our intolerant past returns again
If the far right feel this confident
You know that we're due some terrible end
Racists are back for another big run
Homophobic sexists are not yet done
When the far right are filled with such confidence
You know that we are due some terrible end
Those Fucking Snowflakes are a vibrant clash of political punk, hardcore rock and math rock, a band formed as a means to scream the dread and horror faced in these confusing times of our modern society. From the current mess of the UK political system to the intolerance of, well, everything. From race and gender to such simple items as Greggs releasing a Vegan Sausage Roll, the band are shouting about it backed with a tight unique sound and occasional off kilter humour.
Those Fucking Snowflakes released thier debut song ‘Stop Being Dickheads To Each Other’ in October which quickly gained a massive amount of support from Tom Robinson at BBC 6music. Tom fought hard to get an otherwise ‘unsuitable for radio’ band onto the airwaves via 6music. He even invited them down to the BBC Introducing Festival to do a quick guest spot with Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods during his panel.
The song gained a good bit of traction with the band being featured on sites from When The Horn Blows, Joyzine, Overblown and many more as well as airplay on other stations.
The band really come into their own in a live setting though, having played over 30 shows in their first year of gigs, starting in April 2019 , the tight and explosive live performance has gained them many new fans across the country and shows no sign of slowing up.
