"what is not the reality..."
Step into the steely eyed alt rock fray of "When You Think It's Right" from the Texas guitar crunching rock band Post Profit and your heart rate will undoubtedly raise. This is the kind of rock that wears black T-shirts only and at live shows will illicit head banging. It instantly made me think of 90's alt rock metal in the vein of A Perfect Circle and Drowning Pool with grunge affections too (in some of the guitar shapes, I thought of Smashing Pumpkins as well). It is a sound that (if you believe rock pundits) has supposedly been in retreat over the last 15 years or so until you step into it at a house party or indie festival (pre-Covid, of course) and you realize it has never left, it has just become even more alternative.
Post Profit pushed all the right buttons:
"The song itself is about mistrust and broken expectations," says vocalist Matt Jackson. "The song was originally about relationships platonic or romantic, but as 2020 would have it, the meaning evolved with the times. That mistrust could be against your own government, the authorities, or even other governments. Lyrically it’s pretty straight forward, but emotionally could be related to many different things."
"When You Think It's Right" is from Post Profit's upcoming debut album "When You Think It's Right It's Always Wrong" due to drop this fall.
