On "Empty Bottle", Peterborough, Ontario Canada born singer songwriter Jay Swinn manages to craft sounds that not only push 60's garden proto indie rock tones but does so with so many exquisite roots rock flavors, an amalgam of boogie rock, country and 50's western with an incredibly deep understanding of each genre. Swinn's bending Americana vocal aesthetic is so engaging and somehow feels like a 60's British or Welsh rock bands version of American Rock. So nuanced and unbelievably rich in rock textures I couldn't help but imagine that "Empty Bottle" could be a lost Beatles track (circa 69' ie Let It Be period), it is that complex in tone and so earnest in it's emotional musicality. Swinn, an accomplished session player on piano and guitar, feels like the real deal.
