"tell me how you feel"
[THESSENCE]
During this seemingly uncertain morning and the end of another work week I found "The Elders" by Josh Patrice in my submissions box. I don't have a lot of thoughts percolating in my mind about this song except that it sounds like a three piece stripped down indie rock / garage rock / punk-esque band in the zone and feeling, improvising, writing, making art without trying. That's what is sounds like to me whether it is one guy or more. Like the garage band tone and the sort of feral vox. That is all I have to say, cool stuff, raw and inspired. Weird week.

"The Elders started as a straightforward underground punk song. I might have borrowed a riff from an early Pavement song, but the track transforms via it's middle section as it shifts from minor to major for the instrumental at the end of the song. It's a beautiful mashup of noise and guitars."
