"Old Devil Midnight" has such an evocative synth engine anchored by an enormous beat. The fire is lit with sort of surf punk guitar and pushed forth with that enormous engine and Victor Moreno's artistically raw vox. Rio Negro is an art collective based out of Stockholm that veers into a full sweeping blend of poetry, film and electro-acoustic music. Moreno provides the vox, guitars, synths, organ and programmed beat with additional production touches by Ernestas Kaušylas aka 'Brokenchord In Vilnius'. I did think of a more raw, more punk version of Depeche mode and that is always a good thing.

Rio Negro is a collective artistic project that originated in Stockholm with the ambition to explore the creative combination of poetry, film, and various types of electroacoustic music. Brainchild of Victor Moreno, he composed the music for a chapbook of poems “An Abrupt Solidity To The Light'' (2017/ RVX) at Elektronmusikstudion (EMS), the Swedish centre of Electroacoustic Music and Sound Art. In May 2021 the new EP "U&I" will be released with the cut Old Devil Midnight as a first advance of the EP in March 2021.
