"say my mind is different"
New York born, Israeli raised, queer artist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer EREZ knows how to create grooves and atmospheres that feel surreal, even hallucinogenic. Take her latest "They're Coming" that begins with her at 7 years old self against darkly drawn piano lines before it spins into a universe that sounds both ravaged and determined to fight back. EREZ pushes over-modulated vox and engaging electronica, punk and caustic and bad ass. "They're Coming" brilliantly changes shape often, feeling electronically dark and punk, shifting in avant garde ways and then metamorphasizing into something that feels tender, neo soul meets indie pop. The song is informed by the micro and macro, by world events and our individual reaction to them, by truth and consequences.
EREZ shares, "I wrote 'They're Coming' during March and April of 2020. It was the beginning of the pandemic, the world was freaking out and the global political situation was getting worse by the minute. At this time in Israel, elections were held for the THIRD TIME that year and I felt so much frustration at the manipulation of the people. At the same time, the situation in the US was also getting crazier. He who shall not be named was the president and everyday felt like a scarier story than the day before. I'm saddened about the relevance of this song currently, another round of unnecessary violence and hatred in the Middle East dictated by egomaniacal leaders who don't see their people. That's why I repeat the words 'Again' & 'They're Coming' so much in the song. It feels like this is a never ending cycle. There, but also here with politics in Washington too often being about power and money and not about what's good for the people."
The Official Video is darkly drawn and has a cinematic sweep as directed & produced by Marz Holden-Montini (based on an idea by EREZ and Marz). EREZ shares, "This video is about resisting the corrupt powers that try to control us by using fear. Putting a spotlight on how those powers escalate hate between people instead of cultivating peace. In this video we resist their attempts to silence our critique. The character is protesting those tainted powers by dancing his way through LA and occupying space in a peaceful way. He's showing he is present, full of life, and not defeated by their darkness. He is very much present and alive and is inspiring others to feel the same."

Anxious and unsure of her own voice, EREZ didn't start singing until the age of 12 out of fear that her low, alto didn't match other people's expectations. Throughout the years she'd come to find it was her distinctly low and raspy voice that set her apart.
EREZ's passion for music extended into the nightlife scene in both Tel Aviv and Los Angeles where she found herself dancing late into the night on a weekly basis and even trying her own hand at DJ-ing - something that influenced her desire to self-produce and engineer and has greatly influenced the music she now makes. "As a woman, I didn't want to feel like I had to rely on anyone to get my records done. I feel like producing my own music has given me complete sonic freedom to execute my vision to the max of my ability in the moment I'm creating," she explains. "The musical landscapes I carve out are unique and feel like me. I've been lucky enough to never have a voice in my head of 'will they like it' while creating. I only create what I love and enjoy listening to."
It is EREZ's unique voice– in both its sound and story– that sets her apart and will continue to pave the way for this rising act.
