"temporary values like a pair of new shoes"
James Leonard Hewitson's jagged post punk "Temporary Values" is a strident, chunky, reflective piece of art or maybe a billboard that should be in our faces on common roads in big bold letters. I like the raw sound here and Hewitson's vocal sway but more than anything I like the words that are tumbling out of his mouth. In a world when people of import, politician's, entertainer's and influencers of all sorts seem to have moral compasses that seem to point in different directions based on public opinion or the pitchforked whims of cultures that threaten to cancel them it seems increasingly difficult to find people with deep moral or philosophical opinions on anything these days. I am all for people changing their beliefs based on the evolution of their mind's view, the growth of their overall soul and being but so often it seem like opinions are tied to the bottom line, to money and social mob mentality. Dig Hewitson's aesthetic here, the layers of sound and themes.
