"...it doesn't even show..."
Montreal based singer-songwriter, musician, producer, divergent artist Roquemore (The Vasts) stirs emotions and bends reality in his latest "Universal Chaos". The orchestrated synthetic strings are so sadly moving as a beat thumps like an anxious heart beat. The vocal aesthetic feels pained and not always easy to decipher but that doesn't diminish the utterly dark somber atmosphere Roquemore crafts. The piano strikes, shifting beats, beautifully bent guitar lines that draw on subtle post punk affections all counter poised against each other create a stark constantly amping up tension. "Universal Chaos", in the end, feels like a hyper dramatic passion play, a dark framework to carry our own anxiety and sadness propelled with a sense of baroque classicalism and progressive rock. Goddamn beautiful.
"Universal Chaos" is from Roquemore's self titled album out now.
