"we've got unfinished business, the city won't sleep till I know who's loving you..."
The catwalk strut of "All I Want Is You" by NYC queer art pop glam star Ian Abel is adorned with a deep sort of neo disco bass thrust and Abel's exquisite vocal aesthetic, layered for added sultriness. It is so lush that I could not help but think of Queen and an Eno-fied Bowie peppered subtly with a Donna Summer sparkle. Once you think it is all sultry disco art pop, the amazing musical break doused with a double barbed electric lead hook and it feels so power pop meets glam meets fantasy new wave. I cannot explain exactly how this made me feel but I adore it beyond belief. I actually thought of the very underrated Be Bop Deluxe.
Of the track, Abel shares:
“I wanted to write something you could listen to over and over and keep discovering new sounds, layers, and meanings,” says Abel. “More than that, though, I wanted to capture the feeling of out-of-control, delusional obsession. I really relate to that feeling [chuckle].”
Ian Abel has been killing it since his debut EP “Icarus” in 2016. “All I Want Is You” is Ian Abel’s second single of 2021. Dig deeper into his material Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp and SoundCloud.

“Mesmerizing, powerful, enchanting… He is bringing his own personal touch to the music scene.” — Wolf In a Suit
Ian Abel (pronounced “able”) is the queer fantasy lovechild of an East Village comic book nerd with a heart of gold. With an oh-so-smooth velvety voice and sensual, psychedelic electro-pop arrangements, he’s like if Sam Smith met Robyn or Jessie Ware met James Blake, all with a side of Peter Gabriel. He’s not just your standard indie voice.
Ian released his debut EP Icarus in 2016 and has since become a fixture in the New York alternative pop scene, including packed shows at Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Goldsound's, and Lovecraft Bar. His songs and videos have been featured on Howl & Echoes, Wolf In a Suit, Clout, Indietronica, Milk Crater, Mystic Sons, and Spotify’s Fresh Finds.
His latest project is a series of singles, beginning in 2020 with the premiere of "Taste,” which was accompanied by a wild music video co-directed by Ian Abel and filmmaker Kyle Clark and featuring over a dozen NYC-based artists and performers of all shapes, sizes, colors, genders, and vibes.
