"when you call me up, don't know what to say now..."
The potent psych rock / punk pummel of "Laughing Wall" by Manchester (UK) based Mister Strange feels like the real deal. It is thrashy like the best garage rock but framed with wooden timbers of blues rock with deep cracks and caustic splinters that can seriously fuck up your hands if you hold on too tightly. The vocal aesthetic is equally raw, like blistering wailing squealing surf rock and overall I feel a cross generational amalgam of fuzzy bands like Coachwhips, Night Beats, Truth & Janey and Witch.
Mister Strange is led by vocalist/drummer Tomas Walmsley (also of acclaimed band the Fruit Tones), and completed by Callum Rogers on bass, Ste Bradbury on guitar and synths, and Daryl Taylor on guitars. Turn it up.
The boys share:
Riding through the strange plains we're handing you our second noise "Laughing Wall" ahead of our debut EP with PNKSLM Recordings titled "I" which is landing into your ear canals September 10th!!

Manchester Garage-Rock juggernauts Mister Strange release snarling new single ‘Laughing Wall’
Announce new EP ‘I’ for September 10th via PNKSLM
Hailing from Manchester, the self-described ‘Wunder-Fuzz’ band Mister Strange explode into 2021 after creating significant buzz with a run of high-octane live shows in late 2019, and a couple of enticing early singles. New single ‘Laughing Wall’ follows ‘High Heel Heavy’ in delivering on this promise - channeling the crude, fuzz-punk clamour of The Stooges, The Ramones, and more recently, Ty Segall or Thee Oh Sees. Squealing feedback ushers in a classic riff - with the track lurching here there and everywhere, a swirl of sweaty sonic limbs offering timeless catharsis. They’ve tapped into and drawn from the adrenaline fuelled vein of their fuzzy forebears, and it’s as exhilarating as ever. The band are led by vocalist/drummer Tomas Walmsley (also of acclaimed band the Fruit Tones), and completed by Callum Rogers on bass, Ste Bradbury on guitar and synths, and Daryl Taylor on guitars. Together they have embroiled the heavy noises of punk, garage and psych into an electrifying smatter of organised chaos. With previous projects garnering support from CLASH Magazine, So Young, Dork and Brooklyn Vegan, as well as airplay on BBC Radio 6, Mister Strange are operating from secure foundations. The band will showcase new music with upcoming live shows at Mabgate Bleach in Leeds and YES Manchester (dates to be confirmed after latest UK restrictions) and are set to announce a string of UK tour dates for Autumn.
