"you cut the cord and left..."
Australia's sycloner just released their new EP "Window $hopping" and "Home" bristles with the dark edges expressed on the album overall. There is a sense of danger and mystery on the track manifesting in the urgent beat, grand but spiraling down synth sounds, moments of discordant collisions and a vocal aesthetic that is artful, brooding on one hand but full of pushed out melodies, wails and vocal ascensions that grab you and hold onto you tightly. Really digging the vox here. The alt pop here surprises are many and while I listened to "Home" (and the EP) I somehow feel like Daniel Cunnington and Peter Greasley have crafted sonic journeys that feel like an amalgam of INXS, Soft Machine, Bowie and Filter (with a tinge of Nine Inch Nails). Cool, evocative stuff.
