"like a magic yellow pill..."
Little Lizard craft whimsical pop soundscapes that somehow feels like a magic yellow pill that makes life better (without any ill side effects like diarrhea of suicidal ideation). If you (seriously) go through your life listening to their music as your own personal soundtrack I swear that life will be better, the trees will look a little greener and you will be able to really smile as you listen to that person who tells those vapid weekend stories around the water cooler.
Little Lizard are comprised of best friends Shea Daniel and Lizz D, two multi-instrumentalist who keep it simple yet super artful. I hope (if they so desire) that their compositions would grace visual mediums, film, cartoons, all manner of episodic television, things like that because their sound that delivers emotional cues could be used as a straight injection or as a point of ironic reflection. I love what they make.
And so, with great glee it is wonderful to see this Live Performance video of "Crunchy" where Shea deftly plays his trombone without his slide hitting the mic and Lizz dances playfully while executing some serious melodies on her Rickenbacker bass. Seriously enamored.

Minneapolis funk punk duo Little Lizard wants you to get down to their cold-blooded groove. Brassy and offbeat the duo, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Lizz D. and Shea Daniel, combine trombone funk and bass punk to create their own style of instrumental music. Minimalist in nature Little Lizard packs a punch with in-your-face melodies and cutting basslines over drum machine beats. Varying their sound with synthesizers, vocal samples, and theremin Little Lizard will make you regret quitting band class in school.
Built on the desire to do something different Little Lizard was formed by best friends Shea Daniel and Lizz D. in 2017. Laying out the blueprint to their brass forward sound on EPs Break a Tooth and My City is Cherry Flavored the duo turned their attention to making Little Lizard a live band. With Lizz D. on bass and Shea on trombone and synthesizer the duo solidified their sound on stage while putting together material for their first full-length Premium Vanilla. Released in 2019 Premium Vanilla was recorded in one day in Brooklyn, New York and is a tropical tinged testament to their live sound.
Between tours and regional run outs in support of Premium Vanilla Little Lizard began redefining their sound by adding new instrumentation and writing material for their second LP Earthlings. Inspired by their love for classic Sci-fi and B Horror films Earthlings takes the listener on a funky flying saucer ride complete with dueling synthesizers, metallic 808 beats, and Lizz D. on trumpet and theremin. Earthlings is out now on Guilt Ridden Pop Records.
