"I'm cutting back / I lie and swear I'm done for good..."
Step into the swaying spinning beauty of "Heaven's Clothes" by Ontario's singer songwriter, folk indie artist Missy Bauman, and whether you have a barbed reptilian tail of not, you might feel a little off your feet and floating. Bauman's vocal aesthetic set against acoustic rhythms, wonderful folk pop orchestrations of bold tasteful drums and bass, dreamy synths and pearly electric guitars is broadly drawn, something between contemporary folk indie and a sort of bohemian quality on the edges of 90's baroque pop. Her vocal lilt is artful while not losing an once of emotionality, feeling earnest yet painted with a deep sense of theatricality too like a stage play behind rustic footlights. The beauty is set against sometimes dark lyrics informed by deeply tough times.
Missy shares, unfolds the track's back story:
This track was produced by Juno Nominee Jeremy Fisher, and recorded at Skytrack Studios with Zach Gerber (known for his work with Walk off the Earth).]
Lovely stuff, real stuff that feels born to grace a movie or Netflix / Hula binger full of hard truths.

Described by Rrampt Magazine as “...an exploration of the ethereal...the work of a truly talented artist”, Missy Bauman delivers ‘dreamy drug folk’ - an empowering voice for the odd girl out. Bauman’s fearless songs and transformative shows have been celebrated across the country, sharing stages with Canadian greats Feist, Bahamas, Kathleen Edwards, and the Arkells. A timid woman by nature, Missy transforms beautifully through music. Her brave interrogation of sexual assault, “Two Sisters”, was awarded a ‘Songs from the Heart’ award from Folk Music Ontario for best political piece of the year, and a finalist in the international John Lennon Songwriting Competition. With such recognition accumulating already, Bauman’s forthcoming album, ‘Sweet’, is bound to be her boldest and brightest yet.
