"i could sing but i dont want to / make it sting / if i call you..."
“Aging Moon”, the second and final leading single from Los Angeles based Filipino artist Green Gerry’s eighth studio album, "Pigeon Fix", dropping on 11/24 (2021), is a swaying peaceful piece of sonic hypnosis. Green's vocal aesthetic that is bathed in something between sleepy detachment or a melancholy headache pulls you in because whatever is informing his words and vocal tone, we all have been there (I think). It is after all a cloying feeling of being free but stuck while wanting more of something or someone. Oh fuck, I am most likely projecting but suffice it to say I love the sideways vague poetry and the ending refrain, "locked in the corner I wont get by / locked in the corner I occupy" is beautifully hooky as are the ambling bass and bright surfy guitar phrasings that mirror the vocal melody (or vice versa).
[The collection of songs that assembled into his new full length album, "Pigeon Fix", are a gathering of late night stream-of-consciousness recorded to a 4 track cassette machine over the summer of 2020. Inspired by his time in isolation, he sought multitude, “It’s the sound of a four piece band, alone, under a blanket, in the living room.” says GG. Clinging ever so softly to the whirring hiss of tape, waves of nostalgia and warbly reverb, this is his most refined and vulnerable work to date. Pigeon Fix is set to release on November 10, 2021 via Universal Freeing Object.]
