"and it's always in my mind, any time, that's what I find..."
Listening to the floating transcendence of "Always" by Seattle's Forest Ray with the picking guitars pushing gently against dissonant walls, the buttery Fender Rhodes, easy vocal harmonies, jammy garden rock breakdowns and heavenly slide guitars and I couldn't help but think about the early 70's and gliding along 3 footers between long board and fish. A time when stoners of all colors converged maybe still pretended to be hippies. I thought of an odd yet free form amalgam of artists like America, The Marshall Tucker Band, Stealers Wheel and oddly enough the Vince Guaraldi Trio.
Always is the title track from Forest Ray's forthcoming 2022 album, self produced entirely analog, on a 24 track machine in Forest Ray's Seattle home-studio.
