"I lost my legs again feeling so crushed by the weights of men..."
"Coy" by Archie Blu, the artful solo lo-fi project of Nashville based singer-songwriter, musician and DIY producer Patrick Gleeson, moves on rapid fire lounge punk guitar tones that appropriately sound like they are underwater, vintage machine beats, sweetly curious lyrics sung ever so sweetly and deep dives into jazzy dipped places that feel like you are taking a long hard relaxing breath. The song is full of whimsy, and kind multicolored fun and charm like drinks with yellow and blue umbrellas in them.
The song with it's surreal orchestrations and drum machine beat is a surreal departure from Archie Blu's 2021 EP "Love Circle" that was a wee bit more organic, band like and, well, grounded in reality.
As Patrick shares:
"Coy" "is a story about a person who is feeling mentally & physically crushed by having a hard laborious life. They decide to kill themself & then is reincarnated into a fish in a manmade pond."
It could have been worse. They could of been reincarnated as a dung beetle.
