"swimming in the mess you made..."
"Done a Number" by Lushings and from their eponymous debut EP is like a refreshing fresh squeezed drink of orange juice with a splash of Absinthe stirred in. Sweet, tart, pulpy and slightly hallucinogenic. I would call it psych indie rock but it is more than that. The hard bass and drums groove with strident guitar downbeats have a funkified dark blues feel and Kendra Lush's vocal aesthetic wags it's finger one moment while embracing you tenderly the next. The opening and pre-chorus movements, feels exquisitely and deliciously B- movie noir-ish. In total, "Done a Number" is that midnight movie you want to watch until dawn.
Born during the pandemic, Lushings is the the "musical brain child of Colin McDonald and Kendra Lush" bringing on Connor Muth on drums adding Sunny Dhak (guitar) and Kaitlin Gibson (bass) when Lushings plays live.
Cool.

Lushings was born during the early days of the pandemic. The musical brain child of Colin McDonald and Kendra Lush. A way to save themselves from bad company during hard times. It was that feeling of loneliness and an almost desperation for connection, no matter who, that the two recorded 'Rough Me Up'.
With a feeling that they were on to something, they invited Connor Muth to join them on drums. Colin continued writing and recording with Kendra with the new addition of Connor and soon enough, they had an impressive catalogue of material recorded, waiting to be released.
As the world started to open up to live music again they invited Sunny Dhak to join on guitar and Kaitlin Gibson on bass.
