"Driving along the open road and he sees it / Stepping into the country store and they see him..."
"Snakey" by Louisville, KY avant alt rocker trio Wombo (the wonderfully out there Sydney Chadwick, Cameron Lowe, Joel Taylor) does in fact slither. When I first heard it I thought that this might be what Nirvana would of sounded like if they did bedroom pop and Curt was a girl. Never mind me though, I say stupid things sometimes. For a song that feels simple (at first), the emotional / sonic edges hard and soft and kind of askew lull you and then inhabit your brain like a hallucinogen. The aloof, even sort of numb vocal aesthetic, the Dwyer-esque on barbiturates guitar blares (LOVE them), the ambling textured bass lines, the slippery potent drumming all make for an experience that is at once chill but also vitally artful.
