You might see light cascading through trees, dozens of butterflies beautifying the sky or the most lovely 5 foot peelers with insane lefts when you listen, feel "Pansy" by Butch Wifey, the musical moniker of Boise, Idaho singer songwriter, musician Chloe Ponder. With a last name like Ponder, maybe Chloe was destined to craft such loungey, beautiful dream pop / bedroom pop. Besides her endearing vocal countenance, the lithe guitar movements, shapes enhanced by guitar melodies within the chord structures and gentle downbeats (synergistically embraced by drums and bass) had me thinking of an amalgam of artists like Speedy Ortiz / Sadie Dupuis and Mac DeMarco.
Of "Pansy" Chloe shares:
"Pansy is a song about coming to terms with being a sensitive person. I know that I’m better off being more in touch with my feelings, but sometimes it feels like a curse. I describe this type of sadness as a “shade of blue”. Shades of blue can come from anywhere, a person, a situation, etc. The chorus for this song is calling me out for being so sensitive and for being so lazy when I’m sad. The song also tells the story of a relationship-induced sadness fading over time and how after going through those shades of blue, I didn’t see that person the same way."

Butch Wifey is the brainchild of Chloe Ponder, an ambitious musician from Boise, Idaho. She’s passionate about transforming the emotional turmoil surrounding her life into somewhat catchy songs. She aims to dredge up the uncomfortable feelings associated with growing up and learning how to love others.
