"dear satan, don't let me be forsaken..."
The cheeky but curiously ebullient 'Dear Satan' (if you hear it the right way) by Chicago based Indie / Folk outfit 'Friendly Faces' and featuring the irrepressible Simona Boson feels like the kind of song that might grace a movie. Not any movie but a darkly drawn subversive indie flick. Not necessarily a horror pop film but a self deprecating film about a lost soul who lives on the fringes of sadness. Or maybe a rom-com starring Mia Goth and Fred Hechinger. When I first listened to 'Dear Satan' the molecules in my body had a what the fukikity fuck moment but then I heard the inherent brilliant humor and sadness too.
Besides the subject matter, this little ditty has some beautiful musical moments, you will notice them more the second time you listen.
