"Facts versus fiction - this is rap benediction / After that Pharrell track wont turn my back on Richmond..."
Sonic bounce and flavors of "San Pablo Dam" by Bay Area's MacArthur Maze, a diverse a collective of emcees, producers, deejays, musicians and visuals artists comprised of JANE HANDCOCK, Champ Green, Ian Kelly, Roux Shankle, D. Bledsoe, Blvck Achilles, Nobl, SK, Basta and DJ D Sharp, twists conscious rap with 70's flavored soul. The turn and nod to multiple metaphors feels existential as featured rappers Champ, D. Bledsoe, Blvck Achilles, and D Sharp pass the poetic baton to each other.
I am digging the counter-position between rap and a sort of 70's soul noir. The coalesced sound slips easily into you brain and flows down to your heart. "San Pablo Dam" is elevated further by an evocative, cool Official Video shot and edited / directed by NOBL.
Currently MacArthur Maze is working on an upcoming, yet untitled, full length.

Independent hip-hop ensemble and crew, Macarthur Maze, combine only the most organic Bay Area ingredients to create a powerhouse. Spearheaded by their tenured turntablist/producer, DJ D Sharp, Mac Maze is comprised of six emcees (Blvck Achilles, Champ Green, D.Bledsoe, Jane Handcock, Ian Kelly, & Roux Shankle), and four producers (DJ D Sharp, S. Komanski, DJ Basta, and NOBL). Given the game and entrepreneurial spirit made famous in the Bay, Macarthur Maze has the makings of something uniquely special and necessary. While reality is the basis for their overarching themes, love and community are ever present in their messaging and visuals. All members contributing their respective specialized talents at the highest levels creates a maze you’d be reluctant to want to find your way out of.
