"here's a song about being young / I should have done all the things / but I only did some / here's a song about being old / nobody was buying / some souls never get sold..."
A follow up to the 2021 full length "Continuity Errors", the illusory art piece ""Introvertabrae" by New Jersey singer-songwriter Herman Martinez is gorgeous and, for me, has the sonic DNA of iconic artists whose halcyon days, some could argue, may of existed over 4 decades ago. Artists like Queen, Elton John, Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues, Bowie or maybe an amalgam of all those artists and that's what I like about what I am hearing within "Introvertabrae", a tendency to flirt with art rock and 70's psychedelia. With the exception of the rather oddly abrupt ending, it sounds perfectly rendered, full of beautiful nuances over a lot of fireworks, though there is that too. 51 seconds in, when the 'band' steps in and the track delivers such lovely diversions. The vocals and harmonies aren't afraid to lay back in a melancholy place, the drums (courtesy of Hank Yaghooti) service the song perfectly, the brilliant lead elevates and the overall landscape shaped by producer Ahmed Mahmoud is balanced perfectly.
Love this song.

Herman Martinez is a singer/ song writer from New Jersey. Self described as "kinda good", Season 2 is a rabbit hole full of rabbit holes where one breaks oneself down only to be rebuilt better than before in an act of human alchemy. A game changer in a game no one plays. Featuring Hank Yaghooti on drums and Ahmed Mahmoud returning as producer.
