"some day / some day I'll belong somewhere / some day might be gone somewhere / unlike settled bones..."
The nimble cool guitar lines in "Long Run" by Seattle's Media House, and from their latest album "Modern Museum", just doesn't propel the song at a wanderlustful break neck speed but offsets the dreamy poetry, "I lay low / in a hurricane of steel and snow / silent shows / it's the little things that steal the wind right out of your breathing....". Those guitars with their own melodies, like opposing questions, a clarion conscious hovering.
As the tight bass wraps around urgent drumming, those guitars and stories, with more questions than answers, are truly engaging, an artful engine and it might be just me, but the guitar harmonies and falling and climbing shapes feel nostalgic as opposed to being painted with current indie tropes. None of those here, more like illusions to the tightly wound pop rock structures of iconic 70's artists like Fleetwood Mac, early Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and more.
I have not yet dipped into "Modern Museum" but I bet there are some evocative pieces of sonic art on the walls.
