"your tape deck was buzzing / clock flashing on the dash / at the corner store you spotted me / they only take cash..."
There are a lot of big things to behold on "Tiny" by Oakland, California artist, singer-songwriter Brian Judson from the tactile acoustic guitar sounds like plucked hard memories, the story being told that feels, at times, like a bloody high school wresting match and, of course, Judson's moving vocal countenance that has a particular endearing lost quality.
Of the song, that is the title piece from Judson's recent EP, he shares:
"It is slow and dreamy, grappling with the weight of existence as an agnostic. Exploring how the same skepticism about the divine invites skepticism of other people and their motives"
Apart from the song's melancholia and understated anger told in vignettes of his existence as one just living his life, I find the musical break so drop dead gorgeous. The interwoven musical sounds and the lead guitar tone is something else. Those moments that seem like the also are meant to be understated are gloriously expansive and so fucking beautiful. Just one example how something so tiny can be so incredibly large.
